Cinnamon Girl History

We acquired the Original Cinnamon Girl several years ago, January of 1997 actually, from a neighbor of ours. You can even view the my Captian's Logs at "On The Wire" an online 'e-zine' devoted to people with the same sickness I happen to have.. They either Have a Hobie Cat, or they want to have a Hobie Cat.

We had to do a little bit lot of work to the Original 'C.G.'. She had a big gash, about a foot and a half long on the bottom of her port hull (the left pontoon)

Another shot of the damage

After that was fixed, we sailed her for a couple of summers and had a blast with her. But she was an old boat, and even after some of our repairs, there was still lots to do...

Sailing the Original Cinnamon Girl
Eventually, my buddy Steve Picard had informed me that someone at Lake Chelan was giving away their Hobie Cat. So, we got it. The hulls were in GREAT shape and the sails were almost new. But the trampoline was shot, and the rudders would not stay on.

A sad sight, drydocked boats...
In the summer of 1999, a sailing buddy of mine, 'Tim', helped me in taking all the best parts from both boats, and putting them together to create "Cinnamon Girl II"

The 'New' Cinnamon Girl II in all her glory

I've had a few discussions with the crew about the naming of this boat. They wanted to continue calling her "The Loner", but to me, that just didn't feel right. Seemed to me that any boat that we were able to actually SAIL, should be called 'Cinnamon Girl' in some way, shape, or form. So we've decided on "Cinnamon Girl II". Might even paint the name on her sometime .... ;-)
